About Us
Who are we and why should you feel comfortable living in one of our apartments?
After all “historic” can mean old and run down.
By now you know the name of our company, Horizon Properties, so let me tell you what we are all about and what our philosophy is.
We buy historic apartment buildings and embrace what is beautiful, original, historic, and charming about them. That does not mean we throw a coat of paint on the walls and put it out for you to rent.
What we do is hold on to as much of the original as possible while bringing the comforts we all love about the new or modern. It’s a blend of old and new with an emphasis on quality.
Our buildings have been re-wired, re-plumbed, re-roofed, re-heated, new kitchens, and new baths. The hardwood floors have been either refinished or replaced. The list of what's new could get old...I think you get the picture.
The two abiding principles we govern Horizon Properties by are:
1) No apartment is available unless we would be proud to live in it ourselves.
2) We welcome everyone regardless of race, color, creed, sex, or sexual orientation but no tenants move in unless we would be happy to have them as our own neighbor. (See tenant application)
Horizon Properties puts a great deal of importance on keeping your building in good condition. You are our customer, after all. When you have an issue with your apartment that needs attention we take it seriously and will address it immediately.
Our buildings are located in Elmira, New York’s historic Near Westside Neighborhood and Grandview Heights in West Palm Beach, Florida. Both of these neighborhoods are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
So please take a look at our vacancies. Check out the neighborhood and give me a call or email me if I can answer any questions for you or to arrange for a showing.
